I hope all our fathers had a fantastic day last Sunday and enjoyed the gifts students made and purchased ($3) at the stall. Last Thursday, the Kinder students had Father’s time, which was a lot of fun. Several Dad had shaving cream placed on their chins/beards by their Kinder child. Also loved the orange paper ties that were decorated with lots of glitter. Dads left with special gifts and some photos for their social media page.
Congratulations to our Grade 2-4 Choir who won their division last Friday in the Class 129 - 10 years and under Junior Primary School Choir at the Devonport Eisteddfod . This was so rewarding for the students who participated, and they were surprised and excited with the result. Thank you to Leonie Watson-Peters (Music Teacher), Dana Sallese and Karen Whish-Wilson.
This week I will be on the Grade 5/6 Camp with Mrs Lisa Welling, Mr Luke Dolbey and Miss Tegan Sharman and Student teacher Luke Rowden (5/6D)
Welcome to Luke Rowden (5/6D), Kayla Simpson (1/2P) and Michael Allison (2/3S) who are practicum teachers and all the best to Lucas Simpson (4/5S) who completed his practicum last week.
Mrs Whishy-Washy
In Kinder, we have been reading the book, Mrs Whishy-Washy by Joy Cowley. We had lots of muddy fun making the animals from the story all muddy and then washing them clean like Mrs Whishy-Washy did.

Father's Day Afternoon
On Thursday afternoon kinder students invited their fathers/parents to a special Father's Day afternoon.

Book Parade
We would like to congratulate the following winners of the Father Day Raffle: Eliza from 4-5S, Bryce from 5-6D, Liam from Kinder K and Axle from 5-6W.

Money & Budgets
2/3 Scott have been learning about money and budgeting. Our challenge was to create something out of paper to ‘sell’ to our peers. We created our own shop fronts and had a market-place day where we could buy some awesome things that our classmates had made!

100 Nights of Reading
Trinity has been working hard to improve her reading skills. She has officially read a whopping 100 nights so far this year!! She is celebrating with a book prize. Congratulations Trinity.
We have been reading a picture book called Drought as a part of our unit on natural disasters. Our literacy task is to identify rhyming words from the book and in groups come up with "ire" sound rhyming words.
Caleb, Paul and Amelia from 5/6D were experts in creating circuits as part of our science lesson.
On Friday, our East Devonport Primary School 10 years and under choir was awarded first place in their section of the Devonport Eisteddfod. There were four competitors in this section. This year we were only allowed to have a maximum of 16 voices in the choir and luckily we had 15 enthusiastic volunteers! A huge well done to; Ronan, Hayley, Jonah, Kayli, Lauchlan, Darcy, Zaidn, Lisa, Noah, Bella, Dakota, Declan, Maddison, Indi and Trinity. You all performed beautifully and are a credit to our school. Thank you to Mrs Watson-Peters, Mrs Sallese and Mrs Whish-Wilson for your efforts with this choir. It was a great team effort. Students sang two songs (Puffin and I can Sing). Click on the pdf link below to see the adjudicator's full report.
For the last two terms, 20 of our students from Years 3-6 have been participating in our school Drama Club run by Mrs Whish and Deputy Mayor, Devonport City Council, Ms Alison Jarman held every Monday from 3.00pm to 4.00pm in our GP Hall. Ms Jarman has written a play for our students titled, “How to get a girl’s attention.” On Thursday 16 September, these students will be performing this play in the Deloraine Youth Drama Festival competition to be held at the Little Theatre in Deloraine at 6.30 pm. Parents and friends of our school community are invited to watch their dress rehearsal on Wednesday 15 September at 1.45pm in our GP Hall. We congratulate members of our Drama Club for their commitment to this project and also thank Ms Jarman for volunteering her time and imparting her knowledge and experience with us all.
Please contact the office if you will be attending the dress rehearsal in the GP Hall in order to ensure adequate seating.
On Thursday 26 August one of our students was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the 10 state-wide weekly winners to have taken part in the Premier’s Reading Challenge! This student was chosen as a student who has shown great effort and improvement in his reading and was presented with a prize during a special visit from Hawka the Hawthorn Football Club Mascot and David Cox (Hawthorn - State Manager). Well done Eli of P-1 AS!

Jesse Brennan from Children’s University visited us at recess last Friday. Once again, Jesse provided the students with many resources. A reminder, that students in this program should be finalising the last of their 30 hours so they can be eligible for graduation, as passports will need to be collected on Monday 13 September for validation.
