What a wild few week of weather we have had. The strong winds over this time certainly has caused us many concerns. I would like to thank our students for the way they have been able to remain focussed with such difficult conditions for learning. Inside recess and lunch breaks are not ideal, however our students have really shown great resilience in this time.
A reminder that the pie drive money and forms must be returned to the office by Friday September 13. The pie drive is a great fundraiser that goes towards our Year 6 Big Day Out.
It is wonderful that we have had such strong representation from our school at the Devonport eisteddfods with our choir doing well in receiving second place. I look forward to hearing the results from all our other participants over the coming days.
Please remember that in line with the Departments Sun Smart policy our students will be required to wear hats from this week when outside. I ask you to please make sure your child has a hat. If you need assistance, please reach out to our office.
Our Practical Learning Programs have started with the senior school this week, with many students enjoying being able to do some practical learning tasks. We have a wide variety of learning areas for students and over the coming terms every student at EDPS will be offered the opportunity to be involved in a program.
Book Week was such a special week for our school, highlighted by the amazing parade last Thursday. To see so many of our students all dressed up was great. Also, to our staff who really went above and beyond to dress for the occasion. Thank you to CFLC for joining us, it was great to see so many young children enjoying the event with their families and to our families thank you so much for making the effort to come along and be part of our celebration.
The father's Day stall was a huge success again this year. Thanks to parents for all of your support and to Prue and Anna for organising and running the stall.
Please don’t forget our special breakfast session coming up next week. We look forward to hosting parents and families to share breakfast with you and have a chat about EDPS in 2025. Please book through the office with a maximun of 2 adults per family.
Finally as we hopefully move into slightly better weather can I ask all families to really support us in our children wearing our school uniform with pride. Not only is wearing school uniform fantastic for keeping our students safe, nothing looks better than to see our students in uniform fostering that sense of belonging to our school. As always if there is anything the school can do to support your child wearing full school uniform please reach out to the office.
Last Thursday, we had Constable Justin attend to provide the students an information presentation on Cyber Safety. This session provided information about how to use different social medial platforms. It was great to hear the students ask lots of interesting questions.
