Welcome back to Term 3! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break. We’re excited to dive into another term packed with learning, fun and new experiences for our students.
This week our swimming program began! This is a fantastic opportunity for students to build water confidence and learn essential safety skills. Over the next 2 weeks, students will travel to Ulverstone Community Swimming Centre where they will participate in a series of water orientation or safety lessons. Students today said the pool was nice and warm and they didn’t want to get out! Don’t forget to hang you swimmers and towel up each day so they are ready for the next morning.
You may have noticed that over the weekend we had some very busy volunteers working down on the corner of the school oval. Our amazing volunteers were working to begin preparations for our much-anticipated bike pump track. This HOL project will enhance our outdoor learning and play spaces, and we can’t wait to see it in action. We’ll keep you updated as the work progresses.
Last Friday we supported Jeans for Genes Day by wearing Jeans to school. Jeans for Genes Day helps to raise funds for genetic research and was a fun way to support a very important cause. Collectively we raised $95 Well done East Devonport Primary!
NAPLAN results have now been sent home with students. These assessments provide valuable insights into student progress and help guide our teaching and learning programs. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s results, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
Book Week is just around the corner! This year’s theme is "Book an Adventure!", and we have a range of exciting activities planned, including our much-loved Book Week Parade. Start thinking about costume ideas that celebrate your child’s favourite book characters! Book week is Week 5, with the Parade scheduled for Thursday 21st August. More details to come. Don’t forget the Premier’s Reading Challenge is also underway and will close on the 24th of August. How many books have you read so far?
A reminder to please ensure students are wearing the correct school uniform each day. Uniforms help promote a sense of belonging and pride in our school. If you need support with uniform items, please contact the office—we’re here to help. The school has a Uniform Policy which has been ratified by the School Assosiation and a copy is available from the office if you would like one.
Thank you for your continued support. Let’s make Term 3 a positive and productive one for all our students.
During art, we created drawings of Wilbur the pig, inspired by our class novel Charlotte's Web! Using oil pastels and smudging techniques, we explored how to add texture and soft shading to our drawings. This art activity was a creative way to link our art skills with the characters we are getting to know in our reading.
