5 Crossin-Willis

Year 5CW have been reading and writing about the 11 systems of the human body. We stated off learning about the skeletal systems and can even name some of the major bones.  Next, we looked at the muscular system. This system allows bones to move. To show how muscles work we looked at the muscles of a chicken wing and squeezed some to see how it moved the bones.

On Halloween we managed to fit in a mummy competition. Pairs of students had two rolls of toilet paper to dress their partner as a mummy. If you look close you can see Gordan, our resident skeleton.

But as zombies and ghosts know, mummies don’t stay wrapped forever as Noah showed us mummy can burst from their bandages.

Students also got to play table tennis and pickle ball.

Students have been demonstrating their talents while we eat lunch. Some students have shown us how they can do tricks on their skateboards, and we even had a mind reader. On Tuesday 14/11 Lachlan brought in his puppet called Baldie. Lachlan made the puppet out of foam, plastic, table tennis balls, fabric and even a coat hanger.  Lachlan could make Baldie’s mouth move and even raise its eyebrows. (Lachlan also performed with Baldie at Love East, where Baldie was very cheeky and referred to the audience as a zoo!)
