Principal's Report

It has been an extremely busy start to term 2 here at East Devonport Primary School. Can I firstly thank Mr Perry and our SRC Executive who represented the school with such honour and respect at the ANZAC Service at the Devonport Cenotaph on ANZAC day. I am told it was an extremely moving service, and our SRC represented our school with great dignity and respect. Thank to all.

We held on annual ride to school celebration earlier this term. It was a great celebration of active lifestyles and being healthy in both our mind and our bodies. I am told the students thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon exploring a great tracks and participating in games.

Our year 3 and 4 students attended a presentation of the play "Ratburger" at the Devonport Paranaple Centre last week. It was an exciting production that our students certainly enjoyed, judging on the smiling faces they  returned with after the event.

Every Thursday we are lucky enough to have Carl from Black Square Chess joining us to support our students learn all there is to know about chess. Thanks to both Carl and Mr Lindsey for organising this amazing opportunity for our students.

Last Wednesday we were lucky enough to have the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra present to the whole school “The Science of Sound "

This Friday is our annual school cross country and I know Miss Sharman has been working hard in our PE time to have all our students ready to try their best this Friday. We hope to see all students out and participating to the best of their abilities, parents are invited to attend and support their child.

Lastly can I please remind families of our school Uniform Policy. We have ample supplies available at school so please see our friendly office staff if you require any support to make sure your child is in our approved uniform. A reminder that accessories such as colourful leggings and tails are not part of our approved uniform As these colder days approach we ask that winter jackets etc are placed away in bags when students arrive in classrooms. The Policy will be available to parents who would like a copy by the end of May.
