Principal's Report

As we reach the end of Term 3, I want to take a moment to reflect on the resilience and community spirit that define East Devonport Primary School.

There have been so many vibrant and positive moments over the past few weeks. Our Grade 6 students recently participated in a Challenge Day as part of their transition to Reece High School—a fantastic team-building experience that promoted resilience and collaboration. We’ve also celebrated achievements in the kitchen garden, participated in eisteddfods, and continued to see strong growth in our literacy learning focus. There is so much to be proud of.

Our work in inclusive practices continues to deepen. Staff have engaged in professional learning, collaborated across teams, and reflected on how we can best support every learner. Whether through targeted support, thoughtful planning, or the effective use of teacher assistants, we are building a school where every child is seen, valued, and supported.

We’ve also made strong progress in supporting students to remain engaged and regulated throughout the day. Through consistent expectations, restorative conversations, and a shared commitment to student success, we’re seeing positive changes in behaviour and classroom climate.

As we look ahead to Term 4, we’re excited to continue our focus on:

  • Literacy and engagement, ensuring every student is challenged and supported in their learning.
  • Attendance and wellbeing, creating a school environment where students feel safe, connected, and motivated to attend.
  • Student voice and leadership, empowering our learners to take an active role in shaping their school experience.

To our students — thank you for your effort, kindness, and courage.

To our staff — thank you for your dedication, creativity, and care.

And to our families — thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.

I hope the upcoming break brings rest, joy, and time with loved ones. We look forward to returning in Term 4 with renewed energy and a continued commitment to growing together.
